JURY JUNIOR, YOUNG, MAJOR
The pianist as well as the doctor, You Xi, is the Steinway artist and the professor of major courses in piano department of Central Conservatory of Music. She graduated from Central Conservatory of Music, Hochschule Musik und Theater and Manhattan School of Music in New York, USA. She studied from many world-renowned pianists and educators, such as Ye Junsong, Chen Bigang, Li Qifang, Homero Francesch, Solomon Mikowsky, Nina Svetlanova, Robert McDonald and so on. She had the honor of being the world-renowned and legendary piano master, Alexis Weissenberg’s only Chinese disciple. You Xi is one of the few pianists who studied in eastern and western Europe and inherited from the pure German school and the Russian school. She played in various countries, including the United States, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Luxembourg, the United Arab Emirates and South Korea. She performed in many major concert halls including Carnegie Weill Hall in New York, Merkin Hall in New York, Zurich Tonhalle, Turin Concert Hall in Italy, China National Opera House, Beijing Concert Hall, Shanghai Oriental Art Center, Hong Kong City Hall and so on. Every year, she performs and gives lectures at famous music festivals at home and abroad on invitation. She has been working on playing the world's modern music and promoting the work of Chinese composers for many years. She recorded and published “You Xi and Her Friends—Music, Poem and Painting Chamber Music Album ”, “Performance Essence of Chamber Music Festival of Central Conservatory of Music” and personal album“The Language of Xi—Les Affinites”. She also compiled practical piano teaching materials “Selected Piano Works of South American”.
Since returning to her Alma mater as a teacher in 2006, her students have won several prestigious piano competitions at home and abroad. She was awarded the certificate of “Outstanding Teacher Award” and “"The Gardener Award” more than thirty times by major national competitions including the Prime Golden Bell, PearRiver·Kayserbury, Xinghai Cup, Shenzhen Piano Open Competition and Golden sunflower Cup. You Xi has served as a judge of Kayserbury, Steinway, Steinberg, Cadenza and other major piano competitions for several times. In 2018, she acted as the vice president of Grotrian·The 11th Chopin International Piano Competition for Young Pianists.
You Xi was interviewed individually by many Media and magazines, including CCTV News Channel, CCTV Music Channel, Radio Polonia, Sino Radio Broadcast, Cap 360 Web TV (France), Mirror and Zuercher Zeitung in Zurich, Switzerland, New York Concert Review and Sing Tao Daily in New York, USA, People's Music, Music Weekly, Beijing Youth Daily, Piano Journal, Pop Times and Musical Instrument Journal in China.
She was awarded "The Talent of New Century" by the Ministry of Education, the "Henry Fok National Excellent Teachers Award" by the Ministry of Culture of China and "Four Groups of Arts" by Beijing Propaganda System, etc. You Xi was chosen as one of the top ten young pianists in China by CCTV Music. As the founder of the International Chamber Music Festival of the CCOM, she has been serving as its Artistic Director since its inception in 2008.
